What We Are
Drugstore Hub is a real-time drugstore management system (formerly with COVID-19 visualization dashboard directly fed by information and data freely shared and distributed by the Department of Health of the Philippines). It is a cloud-based web application that aims to manage records and transactions of a drugstore business with regards to its suppliers, products, purchases, sales, inventory, customers, reservations, store pick-ups, and discounts. Each participating drugstore will have its own store account where its unique records and transactions are kept securely in its own database in the cloud to prevent mix-up of data and information among participating drugstores.
How It Works
Since the system is web-based, it implements data and information access via web browsers, thus, there is no system installation required in the physical drugstore terminal computers. What is only needed is a good working computer installed with a web browser and a reliable, significantly fast Internet connection.
Product information and latest stock counts are aggregated among drugstore databases thru a backend central drugstore information hub where consumers can access via a front-end website for online product search, product reservation, and store pick-up features.
Consumers can create a portal user account to track and document their online searches, nearby drugstores, product reservations, photo or scanned copies of their prescriptions as needed for prescription drugs, product reservation status, and drugstore feedback. Since the novel system is browser-based, there is no need for any specific app download, installation or update because the system can be accessed online by consumers through web browsers installed in their mobile phones, tablets, laptops or desktops regardless whether their devices are iOS, Android or Windows-based.
The implementation of Drugstore Hub among small-to-medium drugstores will capacitate them to have and utilize modern POS and inventory systems, an opportunity to market their products online, and an avenue to increase their sales via online product reservation while at the same time keeping abreast of the latest information and current situation of our country about national COVID-19 information by way of the systems’ COVID-19 visualization dashboard sourced from the official COVID-19 website of the Philippines, the www.covid19.gov.ph.
Local small-to-medium drugstores are not the only beneficiaries of the researchers’ proposed innovative project but even local consumers as they will have the option to reserve online among nearby participating drugstores their need for prescription drugs, non-prescription medicines, medical supplies, and related health & wellness products and pick-up their orders in their most convenient time, thus, avoiding possible exposure to COVID-19 infection as compared to that of being part of a long queue of waiting customers in a drugstore.
